In its resolution of support, CEC3 noted that part of its mission is to ensure every child in the district is given a "safe and healthy school environment." Against this background, CEC3 stated it is "strongly in favor of passage of the Proposed Legislation to ensure that all NYDOE schools do not have to face construction noises that are harmful to students, teachers and staff at schools facing construction within 75 feet of a school building."
CEC3 went so far as to call upon all elected official to cosponsor Bill 420. This is where you can help. Join the effort to get 32 New York City council members to cosponsor this vital piece of legislation. (32 is the minimum number of cosponsors required to bring the bill to a vote.)
Several dedicated 163 parents have been hard at work on this for months already. Special recognition goes to Jason Behrstock, parent of two children at our school, who has singlehandedly persuaded the largest number council members to join as cosponsors.

In light of the Dept of Health's recent decision to approve construction next to our school, nothing else we as a parent body can do right now will make a bigger difference to protecting our kids.
