City Council Members Mark Levine and Helen Rosenthal have proposed legislation that could protect our school. This legislation would ensure that construction next to all NYC public schools does not result in classroom noise levels that exceed 45 dBA at any time. If the bill passes before construction is allowed to start, if at all, we believe this would make it impossible or cost prohibitive for the construction to proceed.
Our current initiative is to ask as many P.S. 163 parents as possible to call just one city Council Member every week for several weeks and ask him/her to co-sponsor the legislation (Bill No. 420) to ensure its passage into law. This should take no more than ten minutes of your time each week. Please contact TFSS and you will be assigned a Council Member to call.
Please call Council Members Levine and Rosenthal and ask them about the current status of this legislation.

Also, please call the Mayor and City Council Speaker to see if they support the legislation and what they are doing to protect the kids of PS 163.
